Chalk Empire
A turn based chalkboard strategy game. Draw outposts, end the turn, and watch your chalk creep outward while ink spills bloom underneath it and eat your coverage. Spend the dust your territory earns on more outposts, growth boosts, an eraser for the spills, and golden fixative that makes a patch ink proof forever. Cover half the board and the field itself expands, shrinking everything so there is always more room to claim. Chalk 90 percent of it to win, on Chill, Normal or Extreme.
How to play
You are drawing an empire in chalk on a school slate. Click the board to draw an outpost, then hit End turn and every patch of chalk you own creeps outward. Territory earns chalk dust, dust buys more chalk, and the board fills. Cover 90 percent of it and you win.
Your first outpost is free, so the game opens with a single click anywhere. There is no way to lose and no timer: wet ink can eat your coverage and stall you, but it can never end the run.
The win fires the instant you cross 90 percent, not at the end of the turn, so a boost or a well aimed erase can take it there and then. When it lands you can keep playing on the same board or start a fresh run.
Reading the slate
The HUD above the board tracks the run: which turn you are on, how many times the field has grown, your dust, and the coverage you are chasing. Coverage is measured on the board you can see, so it drops the moment the field expands.
What dust buys
Every tool has its own price, and every purchase makes the next one of that kind about a fifth dearer, so a run is a long argument about what to spend on.
The field grows
The twist: reach 50 percent coverage at the end of a turn and the board itself expands. Everything on it, your chalk and the ink alike, shrinks toward the centre and the field level ticks up. Coverage falls back, but you have not lost anything: it is the same chalk in a bigger world, and there is suddenly room to grow again.
Difficulty
Three settings, and they change how much chalk you get for your dust rather than how the ink behaves. Switching resets the run.
Tips
- Spread out. Two patches on top of each other cover the same ground once, so overlap is wasted dust.
- A patch stops growing once it hits its size cap, so late runs are won by having more outposts, not bigger ones.
- Erase early. The price of an eraser has nothing to do with the size of the spill, and a spill you leave alone grows every single turn.
- Save fixative for your biggest patch, especially one an ink spill is already drifting toward.
- Boost starts as the cheapest thing on the tray. When you are a few percent short of an expansion, it is usually the fastest way over the line.
- Watch the ghost ring before you click: red means wet ink, and the dust is not spent until the chalk lands.
