Kaboodle

A crayon arena defence game. Your doodle stands in the middle of the page while scribbled monsters crawl in from every edge, and you tap to lob bombs at them. The trick is the chain: every monster you pop flings debris that damages whatever it hits, and anything killed by that debris pays double coins and double points. Spend the coins on cluster shells, bouncing bombs, a vortex that hoovers monsters into one pile, and a nuke. Two speeds, Chill and Frantic, and no way to win, only a longer run.

How to play

Your doodle is stuck in the middle of the page and scribbled monsters are crawling in from every edge. You cannot move. All you can do is tap or click anywhere to lob a bomb at that spot, so the whole game is choosing where the next kaboom lands. There is no winning: you play until the horde chews through your doodle, and the only score that matters is how far you got.

Bombs arc over from your doodle and go off where they land, damaging and shoving everything nearby. Damage drops off toward the edge of a blast, so a monster caught dead centre takes noticeably more than one clipped at the rim. Your own bombs never hurt you, so there is no reason to keep a blast away from your own feet.

One bomb, mid-chain: the blast pops a blob, its debris sprays outward, and a chunk reaching the next monster kills it for double. The rest of the horde is still walking in, and a vortex is dragging stragglers into one pile.
The chain is the whole game
Every monster you pop flings debris, three chunks or five from a chonk, and each chunk damages whatever it hits on its way out. Anything killed by that debris counts as a CHAIN kill and pays double coins and double points. Cluster shells, bouncy hops and the vortex pop all count as chains too. So the good shot is rarely the one on the nearest monster: it is the one that turns a clump into a firework.

The bomb tray

Five bombs sit along the bottom. Click one or press its number key. The price is paid every single throw, not once to unlock it, so coins are ammunition rather than an upgrade tree. Each bomb also has its own short cooldown, and if you cannot afford a throw the game just tells you what it costs.

1 · 💣 Doodle, free. A plain, reliable bang with the widest reach of the cheap options. Noticeably slower to re-throw than the rest, and it never costs you a coin, so it is what you fall back on when you are broke.
2 · 🎇 Cluster, 12 coins. A small first bang, then five little ones scattered around it over the next half second. Every one of those counts as a chain, so it is the cheapest way to turn a crowd into doubled points.
3 · 🏀 Bouncy, 9 coins. Goes off, then hops twice to a random spot nearby and goes off again. Cheap and unpredictable: excellent for spread out waves, wasteful against one tight clump.
4 · 🌀 Vortex, 25 coins. Bangs, then leaves a spiral that drags every monster nearby into the middle for a moment before popping again. The pop is a chain, and by then they are stacked on top of each other.
5 · ☢️ NUKE, 60 coins. A blast several times wider than anything else, hitting for roughly four times a Doodle bomb. Expensive enough that you save it for the moment a wave has properly surrounded you.

The horde

Four kinds of monster, all of which walk straight at your doodle and bite when they reach it. Tougher ones arrive as the waves go on.

Blob (from wave 1). The plain pink one: middling speed, soft, and it turns up in numbers. Your everyday chain fodder.
Spiky (from wave 2). The fastest thing on the page and the flimsiest. It reaches you first, so it is usually what takes your first bite out.
Ghosty (from wave 3). Drifts side to side as it comes, which makes it the one bomb throw you are most likely to miss.
Chonk (from wave 4). Slow, three times the health of anything else, and it bites hardest. Worth the most, and it drops five pieces of debris instead of three, so a dying chonk is the best chain starter in the game. Once hurt, it wears a pink scratch above its head.

Waves, coins and staying alive

Waves arrive one after another with a short breather between them, each a little bigger, a little tougher and a little faster to spawn than the last. Coins come from kills, doubled on chains, and there is nothing to spend them on except the next bomb.

You heal, slowly
Your doodle regenerates health, but only after about four seconds without being bitten, so breaking contact matters more than winning any single fight. Monsters also drop a 💗 heart occasionally, which flies to you if you are close and patches up a chunk of health. It fades after a few seconds, so it is worth clearing a path to one. Nothing is saved between sessions: your best is only remembered until you close the tab.

Two speeds to pick from at the start. Frantic keeps ramping the whole way. Chill is identical for the first three waves and then eases off, with smaller waves, slower monsters and longer gaps between spawns, which is the one to pick for a long session.

Tips

  • Aim at the middle of a group, not at the nearest monster. One kill in a clump pays for itself twice over in chains.
  • The free Doodle bomb is genuinely good. Spend coins when a wave clumps up, not on every throw.
  • Let a chonk get surrounded before you finish it: five chunks of debris through a crowd is the biggest swing in the game.
  • Kill the spiky ones first. They are made of paper and they arrive before everything else.
  • Save the nuke for the moment you are ringed in, when a single blast can catch the whole circle.
  • Back off the throws for a few seconds when your health is low: the regen only starts once nothing has bitten you.
