Pixel Herd
A retro sliding puzzle. Slide the critters so each kind ends up in one connected clump, or send them home to their matching pens, routing around boulders. Every board is scrambled from a solved state, so it's always solvable.
How to play
Pixel Herd is a retro sliding puzzle on a small grid of pens. One slot is always empty. Tap a critter in the empty slot's row or column and the whole line slides over to fill the gap, and arrow keys nudge it too. Herd every critter into place in as few moves as you can.
Meet the herd
Every board is stocked from this cast of pixel critters, a few kinds on a tiny 3×3, more as the pens grow:
Two ways to win
Each board sets one of two goals. In Group, gather every kind into a single connected clump. In Homes, slide each critter onto the tinted pen that matches its colour, and it locks in gold once it's home.
Boards & boulders
Pens run from a cosy 3×3 up to a roomy 6×6. Every board is scrambled from a solved state, so a solution always exists, and Undo walks your moves back whenever you paint yourself into a corner.
Tips
- Work one colour into place, then avoid disturbing it.
- Use the empty slot like a cursor: plan the path it takes.
- On bigger boards, solve the edges first and finish in the centre.
- Fewer moves earns more stars, up to three on a tidy solve.
